Meet gentle Tuam

 

 

 

 

 

Tuam is a 2 yr old male lurcher who is affectionate, gentle and intelligent. He would love to trust completely but sudden movements or shouts will send him running so a gentle, kind patient owner is what he needs. He is very nervous of strangers, particularly men and he prefers women. Sometimes he forgets the bad times and this playful, loving dog shines through. In time, he will overcome his fears because he does love human company as he wags his tail and seeks his female carer’s company.

 

 

 

 

 

 

He loves his bed, which is an old couch and appears to run to this as a place of safety. He loves being brushed and dried and enjoys the company of other dogs. He can walk quite well but on occasions he pulls ahead. He needs to be held tightly when walking on city streets with traffic as if a man walks close or a bus passes he can suddenly take fright and jump or pull away. He is safest  when walked in a harness.

 

 

 

 

 

 

He greets other dogs in a friendly manner on his walks.  He seldom barks and does not jump up on people. He is good in the car but relieved when he gets home as he was moved around a lot in his bad days. He takes food gently and allows his terrier house mate to feed from his dish. He is neutered and microchipped.

Update from Tuam’s fosterer:
He has overcome a lot of his nervousness except with strangers, is a lot more playful, enjoys company and has found  his voice. He really loves his walks but can still pull away  when men approach although he is improving. He is very affectionate  and loves hugs.
